I've got 3 trees this spring from Joe Morle, Black Triana, Paradiso and San Pietro. The trees he sent were nice sized and packed very well. In my opinion Joe is a very nice person and would help you out with any questions that you have. I don't want anyone to think I'm bad mouthing his trees because I'm not. I'm just looking for other opinions on his varieties. The trees I got from him all produced figs. Two of them I thought were very good tasting. Paradiso was ok, nothing exceptional. Maybe it's because it's young or because of the weather or who knows what. What I'd like to know is what you think of the flavor of the other trees that he sales? Are they just ok or do they stand out to you? I'd like to try the other ones he has but would like your opinions on them. If alot of people say to stay away from a certain variety then I would have a general idea of it. Even though taste is subjective I'm still curious. PM me your opinion if you don't want to make it public.

I also got 3 trees from Joe. White Triana, La Goccia D'Oro & White Genoa. I highly recommend White Triana it produced for the first time this year and they were excellent. White Genoa was bland its first year but really improved this year. La Goccia D'Oro has not fruited for me yet so I can't say, hopefully next year it will.

Pete, I like the way La Goccia D'Oro fig looks and was actually thinking of ordering that one. It just looks like it has to be good. Too bad you didn't get a chance to taste it. If the White Triana was good the first year then it will only improve as it ages. That's good news! Hope you get a better crop this coming season.

heard lot of good things about his trees. i don't have any of his. few years ago when i was first purchasing the trees, i considered his Paradiso. however, after doing some research, i decided on Paradiso Gene along with two other tress that are not from joe.

Fig quality and taste changes as they mature from seedlings to mature tress depending on your local climate, soil conditions, care etc. Even on my own trees quality and taste change from season to season to a small degree. I hope  I have what the tag or container says it was. Not implying dishonesty, but many folks have been told this tree is X, and that what has been told for generations.  The goal in my end is to have varieties that grow well in my climate and are hardy enough for the zone I have am in. Then explore the benefits of the variations on size and flavor!

Excellent figs. Paradiso probably needs a few years to be good quality. Tarantella and La Goccia d'Oro are great.

I bought a Paradisio from Joe back in 07 or 08 and it gets better every year. His packing was the best I'd seen back then. He's a very nice man who is happy to answer the phone and any questions.

Sounds like I'm just too impatient for the Paradiso fig. Seems the consensus is to give it time and it will grow in flavor. Now I'm even more impatient waiting for Summer to come to try it again. 5 more months til dormancy breaks in April.
