I 258

get this fig if you can. really, really good. does well here.. had some Figo Preto and Black Madeira with it. I 258 was the winner. FP and BM are suffering due to too much rain and strange cool temp we are having.

This one is on my list. I have dark unk. fig brought over from Salerno by the home owner Frank that I hope to have figs from next year to try too.

Thanks for the report Pete. Tough times call for tough figs.

Not an easy fig to find. This is great to hear about, but where are the pics?

no pix this time. i didn't expect much so i just ate it. then realized how good it was. truly outstanding fig. maybe next one. the fig looks very much like FP and BM in a way, but leaves look different. color of the fig is slightly different also. and test is also different.

Pete:IMHO,Ital 258,is one in a handful of figs, that are best tasting,on the entire planet,if climate is warm enough to get properly ripe fruits.
No wonder you found out by tasting, the fruit.
I know this to be true for about 5 years now, once i had first ripe fruits.

My I-258 is struggling. but it has not given up the fight. It has made a few fig, even being small. Taste is very good but the skins are tough. I contribute it to being slow growing. Has anyone else
had tough skins on this fig?

it was my first fig off that tree. it had few others, and i didn't pay attention to it. birds had earlier ones. the one i had was not tough. too much heat and lack of water seem to cause few of my figs to have tough skin.. BM especially. it was like chewing on a leather.
