Obviously, my above post was meant as a (funny) joke.
Hope that I did not offend anybody; if so, I apologize.
("I hate this": specially bad dreams).
Seriously,
Fig twigs should first produce roots before leaves.
Mostly they do so.
But sometimes lady-figs behave in some mysterious ways.
Initial roots come from the (limited) energy stored in the woody-twig.
Then comes the leaves that produce energy for more-growth.
Any fruit buds should be sheared off at this stage; as they are just
energy-sinks (motherly-love), stealing cutting of precious growth energy.
In particular, I just had 4 fig cuttings in a plastic bag method (using SM)
for quite a while (Pakistani Black).
No roots, but I see an ~1" green stem (with tiny leaves).
What to do?
Yesterday, I opted to 'pot' the two most active ones
(I'll give the 2 others 1 more week time).
I used the usual vented dome "plus" a liquid root hormone for help;
time will tell.
P.S. I just added some liquid hormone to the 2 twigs still in the baggie.
