I know what you mean. We are looking for a house. And my wife commented that I seem to be more concerned with where I'll plant trees than where I will live. Yes, I want more figs (and mulberries and grapes and pomegranates and ...). Admitting you have a problem is the first step toward getting help.

well.. gina, they are "wish" list. so i only put rare and hard to get ones. i seriously doubt anyone has Cendrosa in US.. yet. if they do, i haven't heard anyone saying "i'll trade" :)

If you do get a rare one, like your "Cendrosa," cuttings will pay for your entire collection on Ebay!  Have you seen Driveway Farmer's cuttings?  Wow!  2 days left!  They are heading to triple digits!  Maybe you should consider buying internationally.  Just a thought!

Good luck!

all power to those who are selling quiality cuttings. as for me, i'm still into not mixing my pleasure with business thing. tho i might change sometime in future. i'm running out coins.

Please let me know when you find out what the right number of figs is :). I started on this forum at the end of August with one grocery store purchased Brown Turkey and have seen my fig collection increase quickly.  I bought some from a forum member on ebay and when he found out that I was a F4F member he included some extra varieties. I'm having fun and it's a great hobby.

answer is always 42.

Pete,
Is that 42 total or 42 more?

I know what you mean.  My wife and I bought 7 acres this year.  How many different varieties do you think I can fit in?  :)

Eric!  7 acres can fit a lot of figs, but you do get snow, so how big is your garage?

Suzi

42 or 142.  You will NEVER have enough, Pete.   :-)

i forgot what the question was.. but i'm sure the answer is 42. :)

7 Acres can be a little fig farm!!   or not so little

7 acres is good size. in zone 7, the can still have some trees that can be planted in ground and survive the winter.. i think.

Man...you folks are crazy!  Ambitious for me is simply 5 more trees.  A Smith, A good Celeste variant like O'Rourke, An awesome late season dessert fig like Black Madeira (or Soccorro Black, CdD, etc), a good honey fig, and another surprise or something.  Ultimately, only need season lengthening.  I really only need three. Smith, O'Rourke, BM.  And my family would think *I*'m crazy just for that.  Fig trees numbering in the forties?  A hundred?  Whew!  I do hope Georgians gets crazy like that.  Then we can all get together and the noncrazies can skim off info on the top breeds that do best in Ga.

If you plant on a 10 by 10 foot spacing you can plant 3,045 fig trees on 7 acres.

i started out with 3 trees. now i have about 38 trees. but it's nothing compare to some of the other members. soon, i'll be giving out the trees to friends and family around my area. if all my Black Maderia survives the winter, i'll ask jon if i can auction one off for F4F foundation. they are total of 15 different cultivar. it sounds like a lot.. but there is always one more that will make it "complete".. problem is.. there is always one more.. and unlike stamp collection, you can eat these.

shana,

i'm going to wait till 11/29 like the post. i'm find very ancient method of finding the winner. it will be fun.

Womack- 3045 trees , huh?  I'm gonna have to order more cups!

Pete- I've got about 20 different varieties growing in ground for 2 or 3 winters and so far, so good.

Suzi- We do get snow occasionally along with a few nights with lows in the teens each winter so my garage is obviously not big enough! :)
