I think I got Punked !!

So heres the new dilemma. So three weeks ago I seen some Brooklyn White & Celeste Cuttings on Ebay and sent them an email asking if they would ship to Canada, and they said yes so I bid on it and asked them if they could send me more cuttings and I would pay the difference and they agreed. They asked me to cancell the bid and send them a money order wich I did. Up until they received the money Order they would always reply to my emails within minutes now that they received it I get no replies and have not received anything up until today. If I dont receive anything by next week I will contact Ebay and send them the emails I received from that ebay member with the instructions to cancell the bid and so forth.

What do you guys think? Am I just being inpatient

Hi Nelson,

I went to ebay and found the seller I think you bought the cuttings from, on that site was a Video of how he starts cuttings, I went there, his voice sounds very familiar!????

Nelson, I hope you haven't been punked, but since you circumvented the eBay system, they won't help you at all. They really don't provide any actual help even when bought "legally". Believe me, I've been taken several times. I hope you get your cuttings soon.

Nelson, I got some of those cuttings from ebay, and they arrived pretty quick here in the US. The seller was new and wanted to get good feedback and wrote me when it took me a while to post my feedback. So I would think they would not want a negative so early on. I don't know why they would slack on getting back with you to let you know what is up. Hope they arrive soon for you.

Cecil I agree with you the voice does sound familiar but I cant put my finger on it. I too dont believe they would do that but I just find it weird that they dont reply to my emails asking if it had been shipped yet. I dont have much of a choice right now but to wait another week and see what happens.

Fatnsassytexan I know exactly what you mean I have been through it a few times it really is a lost cause with them.

Mescalito I agree they are in New York im in Ontario I can drive there in 3hrs so it shouldnt take long unless its stuck at customs. Now that I posted here watch it be in the mail when I get home LOL that sure would be nice.
They replied on the 22nd saying it would be shipped that week and that they would send me a confirmation # or tracking # and im still waiting for that.

Stupid me I should of just asked someone here for cuttings Oh well live and learn.

Nelson,
here is a link to ebay where you can request the sellers contact information and CALL  HIM or Email him Directly.
On that page its number 1 just read the paragraph and click request sellers information hightlight in blue.

One problem that will arise though if you went outside ebay because they will ask for a transaction number, you could try useing the original one that you cancelled the bid on and see if it lets you thru if not contact ebay directly and tell them that the SELLER asked you to cancel the bid and see what happens. Perhaps they will gove you the contact information at that point and maybe not because you went outside ebay according to there rules.
I hope things work out for you.

Thanks for the link Martin I have sent them another email today to see if they would reply its been 4hrs now and still nothing I will give it another week see if the cuttings turn up if not. Then hey its only a 3hr drive wouldnt be the first time I drove that far to prove a point.

I have mail send to me from USA and it takes at least 8 to 10 days.

I got Brooklyn White cuttings & you are welcome if you don't get to get yours. Only thing is they have not measured up in my zone. It may need a couple of years more to mature or may not at all for our zone with less heat units.  BW have been good in "BASS" zone.  My tree is in its 2nd year and at least 3 ft tall. With regards to Celeste, it is great when the weather conditions are perfect  -- like it ripens in mid/late Sept. Most times the cooler weather is a challenge & no ripe/poor quality figs. Let me know if you want Celeste cuttings.

Anyway lets hope you got good news & hope they are the variants they are suppose to be. I hope your worst scenario can be put to rest with a viable option available from western Canada. Hmmn, now is not the appropriate time to take cuttings. I will do so when they go dormant in late Nov or before Xmas.

Thanks Paul appreciate it.

Nelson,
ah ha you said last email was on sept 22 and they said it would be shipped that week.
Ok well if they hold true to there word and shipped around 23rd or that friday 24th you should have it arrive next week, i have bought some things located in Canada and it can take 10 days depending on how it was shipped.
Hope for the best i have a good feeling you will be getting your cuttings soon since i read that last post.

Your probably right Martin it does take a bit usually and I have no Clue when they shipped it then theres the possibility that Customs is holding. Sure would be nice of them to reply thought thats whats got me a bit worried if they did nothing wrong why not just reply.

I do not like the fact of not answering emails...

However, the postal service is well known to 'cr*p' out,
once in a while.

Recently I traded an air-layered (freshly-cut), fig with
a fig-friend within the NY-tri-state area. It was shipped
Priority Mail and usually PM is a 'next-day-delivery' withing
this close distance. This particular fig took a whole 11 days
to be delivered! The end result was still good - the remark
from the receiver was (to same effect): "What's your secret? -
your fig was trying  to grow roots through the box!"

Also, last year I bought a used camera from ebay. When
being way-overdue, I checked the tracking number,
it said that it was delivered to my zipcode a week+ earlier.
I communicated (successfully) with the seller and then went
to the PO to inquire. I was told that most likely the delivery
was miss-delivered and/or stolen...
The following day, I saw a box (with camera inside) sitting
on my porch - no explanation from the PO ever came though!

Oh Gorgi I agree with you Post Offices its 50/50. I had a similar issue 2 years ago as you did with your camera. I was at the time Converting my car to awd I ordered a new trunk pan from germany the seller also gave me a tracking # after 5 days I checked just to see and it too said delivered and I had not received anything. To make a long story short 6 months later the trunk pan arrived back in Germany and the Post Office wanted to charge me to re-ship it wich I refused and eventually got it with no addional cost the darn thing was missing in action for 6 months and those morons had no Idea where it was.

The problem part is that it was not done through Ebay, and not with Paypal. That is where the probelm of fraud comes in.

The way to handle this deal was to have the seller send you a private offer through Ebay, much like a second chance offer.  That way it is still through Ebay, and done with Paypal. Then there is a little recourse. You have to remember that Ebay is paid by the seller, not the buyer, so that is where their loyalty lies, even when done through Ebay. The seller is innocent until you have throat grabbing proof of guilt.

USPS (Post Office) - their "Delivery Confirmation", Tracking numkbers, etc, etc, just mean that someone at the post office marked the paperwork to "say" that it was delivered. Since the recipient doesn't sign for the package, there is no proof that the package was any where near the delivery address. It could have been left at any address, anywhere at the right address, or taken home by an employee. All the paperwork proves it that someone marked off the paperwork. To get anytjhing more, you need to send it certified with a return receipt and signature required by addressee. That costs a lot more.

Full tank will get me to New York & Back ok all kidding aside the only proof I have is the emails exchanged between us. Jon but I know your right about what you said I knew what I was doing was risky and fishy but I chose to do it anyway so a lesson learned there.

Think ebay would care about this ?

Subject: Re: You've received a question about your eBay item, Brooklyn Italian White & Celeste Fig Tree Cuttings ~DIY

3 brooklyn white & 2 Celeste for $23.99 (S&H included to Toronto Canada).  We can both agree to cancel the transaction after the bidding is over so eBay can reimburse the final value fees.  I will ship a total of 4 Bklyn wt and 3 Celeste for this price.

Yes Jon; plus (the worthless-free delivery tracking
confirmation -if one has an account), there are options for signature confirmation
and/or insurance which both add to the shipping cost.
Depending on the value of the merchandise, most often it
is not worth the extra cost for shipping - most things do
manage to go through in a timely manner - but once in a while, 'bad' stuff do happen...

you know after reading what I just posted I just realized that was my chance to do it through ebay and I chose not too. So that right there is my fault oh well, if I do end up getting punked I will learn a valuable lesson. With forums like this one there is no need to go get cuttings else where patience is key think I learned my lesson.

Nelson,
let us know 1 week from now what happens.
Like i posted above and can be wrong as i still have faith in people , yes he should have answered your email but time will tell for sure one way or another i think in a week. I just figure he wont get rich off 24.00 but there are some folks like that i suppose.

I ordered from this seller a while back. Seller shipped them fast. They are doing great. I have the Seller's address if you want it.

Oh really glad to hear they are doing great, seems a few of you had a good experience wich is great this was their first time shipping to canada as well so if nothing arrives by friday then ill worry. Like I said before though the least they could do is just simply reply. Anyone want to send them a question on ebay see if they reply lol $24 is not the end of the world I spend allot more than that everytime I go to KFC.

Hey Nelson,

I just asked the seller if they replied to a buyer AFTER buyer has bought from them!! I also said "reply to Nelson"

Edit...here is exacatally what I said

Dear best_seeds_guaranteed,

Do you reply to emails that someone ask's you AFTER
buying from You?

Thanks much....(PS reply to Nelson)

Thanks Cecil they must be cursing me by now lol.

Just a warning, I don't think the Brooklyn Italian white is the same fig as the one I collected and named it so. Someone had purchased figs from them and compared it to mine but they look different. I'm not a 100% sure.
I have attempted to contact that seller at one point to see where they got it from, but I got no answer. I just hate more fig naming confusion.

Let em cuss

I read an older post a while back either here or gardenweb where someone in New York was selling two mature Brooklyn White and one Celeste. I thought that might have been the possible source of the cuts sold on eBay.
