I think my wife is jealous of my interest in figs...

...she's now referring to her lady business as her fig.

could be worse.

Too much information

If it was a fig, we'd be keeping more of them satisfied.

Ha ha!

I've always thought when they are split in half, the inside kinda looks like that anyway.

Of all the fruits and berries I have planted in the yard (more than 12 kinds), the only one she likes is figs. So while she rolls her eyes as I discourse on the characteristics of different varieties, she loves it when the picking begins!

Since all my trees are young we have not had a big harvest yet, but this year will be better.

gene, how many years after inground planting does it take to get a decent harvest?

Honestly!

Of course with fruit anything can happen, but here is what I am thinking about my situation. Next year 5 of my trees will be 4 years old or older. Two will have been in ground for 3 years, the others 2. Unless we have another horrible winter they will all be 5ft+ with extensive branching. I am thinking that should give me a good harvest next year, then in 2016 I should reach pretty close to full production with these 5 trees at 6 years of age.

I've seen with my raspberries, blackberries, blueberries, etc., if you get the culture right, the third year is when you hit your stride with a producing plant. Or as the old saying about trees goes, "the first year they sleep, the second one they creep, the third year they leap."

I like to have my hands on the figs :)  - to test for softness, ripeness ...

Thank you JD. I was wondering when someone would get creepy with it. I was reading the other comments about in ground planting, branching... couldn't find any way to interpret any of it as immature sexual innuendos. I think they are actually talking about fig trees. What's wrong with these people?

Lol, been referring to my boys junk as figs for years

I know there's a "pinching" joke in their somewhere....I just can't decide where to take it! :D

I could accept her calling her business that but my manliness would be hurt if she referred to mine as the fig wasp
