I think the Groundhog was wrong!

Here are some views from my place. I've got a ways before I start gardening. These pics were from a few minutes ago.

Exactly what southern WV looks like!
Snow flurries here since Thursday.
I think it's about time someone made ground chuck out of that groundhog! LOL

Looks like you got more snow than I did. It's still coming down here though. This weather is not in my plans for Spring. I want to see things growing, not this artic tundra crap!

Looks great for cross country skiing, Art.

Art Only being a little south of you we can see a lot of bare grass here.

Well, I guess you can't expect too much from a small furry mammal that drove Bill Murray over a cliff in a pickup truck!

Tony and Bugs,
Looks like Tues-Wed another 2" to 4" for us. Then looks like we might be in the clear. I hope!

Dale,
My kids love it when I pull them around the yard with the quad.

Looks like a winter wonderland to me, but I don't want to be there.

Noss I got hit with 32.9 degrees and some frost. The frost burnt a few leaves on some of my trees and it completely did my snap beans in . I'll be replanting them this afternoon. I took the gamble and lost. Last year I won.

"gene"

Gene, It looks like things are going to play out a little different for my zone this year. Last year we had a real mild winter and spring came early. It's very common for us to get a late frosts in early April but we didn't last year.

This year it's looks as if it may stay pretty cold right up until April (based on long-term speculation). Because of this, the fruit trees in general should hold off on blooming and may (possibly) not lose their blooms to the typical late frost. That's the hope anyway ;) .

i just want one good snow here. about a foot would do. just once. i haven't seen a good snow here since  2004 or something.

3 - 6 " of snow predicted here starting tommorrow night

They just gave update here winter storm 5 - 10 inches tuesday.
Last season i start fig shuffle on March 12th.

ATTENTION!
Due to weather conditions the world famous Fig Shuffle will be delayed this year.
Stay tuned for further instructions.

Jon P. will come and post something funny about the delays we experience in our climate.
Something to the effect like  "I keep saying move" as he has mentioned in past.
His trees are spoiled rotten.

Well, looks like the wooly bear caterpillars didn't do us justice this year. I guess I should have tried a goose bone. We shoot the ground hogs (pasture b#$%ards) around here so there aren't very many (folks worry about horses breaking legs in their holes). I had a friend that had one as a pet once - slept in his wife's hope chest and got pretty aggressive once it got some age on it.

Kubota weather here just updated as the amounts they mention keep going up
now there saying 6-12 inches before the system moves out and heads eastbound .
Cant leave out the growers back east now can we.  ; )

Fig plants still in deep sleep in garage.

today in zone 5 s.e.Nebraska . Some snow still on ground ,predicted high 47f   .....40% chance of rain .

Thanks for sending that snow storm east! I was planning on uncovering my Hardy Chicago this past weekend but now Snow Weather event scheduled from Tuesday through Wednesday night.

...Winter Storm Watch Remains In Effect From Tuesday Evening
Through Wednesday Evening... can't wait for all this to arrive (like a bad dream):

• Precipitation Type...Snow.

• Accumulations...More Than 5 Inches Possible...With The Potential
For More Than A Foot Somewhere Within The Watch Area.

• Timing...Precipitation Mixing With And Changing To Snow
Tuesday Night. Snow Continuing Through Wednesday Evening.

• Temperatures...In The Lower And Mid 30s.

• Winds...Northeast 10 To 20 Mph Tuesday Night...Becoming North
Winds 15 To 25 Mph Wednesday With Gusts Up To 35 Mph.

Just look at it this way, at least you don't have to deal with 100+ degrees for half the year.   I'm trying to hang on to as much cold as possible.  It was in the high 80's the other day.

Martin, Looks like your storm will be here Tuesday night.

Bugs, I think you are going to get more than me this time. It's going to be worse just south of me.

Art, Today it was 40 and sunny here on snow on the ground. I was in the Pear and Apple trees pruning. The weather men can not make up there mine one is calling for rain, the other is saying snow, so we see. It is 7:30 and the temp. is 28 f

It is not the groundhog you should shoot, how about the same idiots that push this animal out of hibernation every frigging year.

Bugs, I'd take rain over this dang snow. But we are supposed to get some of the white stuff Tues. night.
I think I'm going to do my pruning of my fruit trees this weekend. They will be in bloom before we know it.
