I wanna to know the possible cause

Hi there,
Recently I just bought an airlayered fig plant from a seller.
When I received it, the leaves were droopy and slight dried.
After about a few days later, the tip of the cutting were dried and wrinkled. 2 weeks since I bought the airlayered plant, there weren't any new growth. Hence I inspected and found that the main stem was hollow.
I want to know what is the cause of this ? Is it due to the poor airlayering quality or just my luck ?
By the way, I'm residing in Asia.

Yes, in Malaysia airlayered plants are very popular. Some vendors (like me) cut off most of the leaves and the "pucuk". This is to prevent to dry out.

After you planted to the soil must keep the plant in a cool shady place until new growth will appear...

Also very important to keep out of rain.

Hollow stem could also be some types of infestation (beetle)?

Ending up with a hollow stem has nothing to do with the airlayer. The damage could've been there even before the air layer was started.

Hi,
Thanks for the replies.

Yes I have done all the above mentioned. Till now, I'm still pretty upset about it.
