No fruit yet, but I love those leaves!! Absolutely the prettiest leaves of any fig tree I own! Well maybe one other exception. I think I might see a couple fig embryos so I should get to taste. Even if the taste is mediocre this one is a keeper!!

That plant has very unique leaves.

Martin,

It is a nice light color fig plant indeed.

Barry,

Any plans on selling some cuttings off this fig?

Rafed, I'm pretty sure it is a dark fig, Bass would know for sure. It is still kinda young but you might persuade me to start an airlayer for you.

Barry,

Thanks, I been wanting one for a while.
But,,,,If yours is still small I rather wait. No need to rush bro. Let it grow some first.

I'll look closer at it and let you know, should be able to get one or 2 started.

Fair enough

Interesting leaves.  Almost looks like it was bred for the leaf shape.  Any of you guys know the lineage / history of this cultivar?

Nice leaves.  I've never seen that before.

I believe it is a variant of:   Ficus afghanistanica.

Will it set fruit in USA?  Edible fruit???

Frank

Thanks to Bass I do have a young Ice Crystal fig.
Very nice leaves and supposedly it does produce fruit.

I also have an F. afghanistanica specimen with similar,
much smaller and more beautiful 'silvery' leaves.
Supposedly it does not produce any fruit. So I just
grow as an ornamental. It is very much harder than any F.carica...

As George says, Afghanistan fig is different, much smaller and different pattern, no figs, different species of fig I think. Ice Crystal is a Ficus carica hence will produce figs, no wasp required, at least that is what I have been told. I kept my Afghanistanica outside all winter in a pot, wouldn't try that with Ice Crystal.

Ficus Cannabis ....

Well, someone had to say it.

Barry, do you have to grow it on the side of a hill like that. LOL. All kidding aside a very unique looking fig.

My apologies...
I should have done some homework.  Sorry I confused things.

Ficus carica 'Ice Crystal' looks almost exactly like F. afghanistanica.

gorgi...
Sorry...can you just clarify?  Are you saying that F afghanistanica is  "harder", or "hardier" than F. carica 'Ice Crystal'?  One missing letter changes the meaning of the sentence.  If, "harder" to grow than any F. carica...why?  What culture do you give your plant?

Thanks,
Frank

PS...Has ANYONE ever seen this tree produce figs?  Post a photo...please!

It looks like it contorts itself a little bit too. very neat.

Afghanistana is pretty hardy, so I am thinking that's what George meant, plus it is really easy to grow and propagate.

Sorry for the sideways picture, I will figure out how to turn it.

Ficus cannabis? Oh is that what cannabis leaves look like?

Can we make brownies out of them?

Do you have a recipe?

I was told you boil the leaf and use the water to use for the mix.
