ID help Please

This tree is planted in my yard. I originally thought the fruit was green with a  light purple blush- turns out they hadn't ripened fully - fruit was scarce. I think this one needs a longer warm season as the fruits did not ripen in past or again this year except for a couple.
Good news - with all the rain, fruit did not explode. Fruit is a little lighter  color in person.
Thanks for all your help.

Leaf is 11" x 12"

Hoping someone might have an idea   :-)

Hi Pattee,

Sorry cant help with ID but I have questions.

1. Where is the tree planted LI or FL.?
2. How Large is the tree?
3. What did the fruit taste like?

It sometimes help to give as much info as possible for an educated guess.

Thanks Pete. It is planted on Long Island in a sheltered area between our home and fencing with hedges. It's about 5ft wide and about 5ft high. The fruit was not overwhelmingly sweet , but nice and honey tasting . We've had a lot of rain , but it did not burst open as some of my others did
