Hi Everyone..!!!

Happy new year to everyone in figs4fun forum and Greetings from Malaysia...!!

I need your expertise to help me identify the name of the figs in the picture below.. According to the picture, the figs originated from Greece.

Thank you.

The picture above is taken from http://blogs.smithsonianmag.com/adventure/2012/09/figs-kiwis-persimmons-and-avocados-take-your-pick-of-national-fruit-tastings/

Some pictures of the leaves would help

I only know that these figs come from Greece... and there are no pictures of the leaves... when I googled Greece figs... the same figs came up... but the problem is... the people who commented gave a general knowledge of the figs and there were no names given

I have one similar to the little dark one at the bottom.
Known only as "Dark Greek" from LP.

It is one of the best figs in my collection. Very very tasty fig. And a great producer.

The one at the top is very similar to one I have. It is good, not great.
Getting rid of it if it survives the Winter. It is on a 45gl. pot and outside.

Thanks rafted.. to help me identify the bottom little fig...

Dont mind me asking.. what does LP stand for??

LP is the source name.

Hi teoh,

There was an interesting thread earlier in the season on greek figs: http://figs4funforum.websitetoolbox.com/post/identify-of-variety-fig-6604549?highlight=greece

#bexley offered this great link from Kostelenos from info provided from the National Ag Station Kalamata, Greece. Provides some pics but also names popular varieties in Greece that might help you when researching http://www.kostelenosfytoria.gr/products.php?pageId=10

English google translation here to help decipher names (hope it works): http://translate.google.com/translate?hl=en&sl=el&u=http://www.kostelenosfytoria.gr/products.php%3FpageId%3D10&prev=/search%3Fq%3Dhttp://www.kostelenosfytoria.gr/products.php%253FpageId%253D10%26biw%3D1311%26bih%3D739

Thanks Recomer20...

Very good link indeed..!!!

From the looks of the color of the figs, I assume that from the top:

1. Livanos
2. Royal Bees / King Bees (Maybe)
3. Still Unknown
4. Markopoulos (Maybe)
5. Dark Greek

Anyone here from Greece?

Hi Edward Teoh

Apart from the figs from Greece, I think you have an awesome collection of Rimadas.

Do you sell air layered plants or cuttings? If you are in Selangor, i'd like to get in touch and buy some plants from you.

Thank you.
