Actually the issue is how figs respond, and how you have to change with the weather. Places that hadn't been dry all summer are all of a sudden dry and needing water.
People often ask how much to water. And this is an example of why that question is so hard to answer. 85 is not the same as 105. Also 105 and muggy is not the same as 105 and dry.
Plants constantly emit water from their leaves, but the quantity is affected by the humidity and temperature. So suddenly fully watered plant had droopy leaves, esp the tender new growth because they were losing water faster than the plant could supply it. The problem was internal in the plant, not external in the amount of irrigation.
