I'm back!

I have only made a few posts but I am very much a newbie. A while ago I got some cuttings from a member and I have been using the bag method. I have seen a few roots but every time I put a cutting in the pot the roots shrivel up and die. I'm just using soil. The cuttings don't appear to have rotted. When they were in pot, I had a plastic bag over them to keep the humidity in. Any suggestions? Thanks:)

Hi Patrick, welcome back. Here's a thread I created for a safe and fast easy rooting of cuttings.
Easy Rooting!
Wishing you all the success:)

sometimes no matter what you do, roots won't happen as we wish them to. Also, summer cuttings, green cuttings are even harder, please don't give up.  and leave them covered.   I have 2 here at that stage.. had green tips, looked good and stop growing. I am scared to unearth them to find the ass gnats there...  I am horrible at rooting them.

I think you should transition in a sealed humidity chamber, not under a cup or dome. Also, don't use soil, use an inert media, I use 2/3 perlite mixed w 1/3 peat moss. I was losing rooted cuttings in droves til I switched to this method.

Welcome back!  You've been gone so long, we forgot what you look like ;-)  Where are you located?  I'm sure any new cuttings you start will be accompanied with LOTS of advice.  Have fun.  Different methods work best for different members.  We all find our way eventually.

Hi PatrickStar,
Welcome back.
At this time of the year ... the baggy method is not the best, IMO.
If you still have cuttings at hand, try this : Put them in a bottle of water for 2 to 4 weeks in a greenhouse with high humidity.
Than put them in compost in a greenhouse with high humidity.
Let them grow !
This is how I do it . I have some cuttings currently rooting.
Hope you still have cuttings waiting to root !
