Improved Kadota

Have anyone heard of Improved Kadota? I'm expecting a plant coming from plant collector from Ca who gave me a history of this variety. Said that it was a seedling of a kadota, that is big and even better tasting. It originally came from a fruit breeder who sold them back in the 60's or 70's sold them under the name improved Kadota.

Anyways, per my research I didn't find much info.

Bass,

Here's a link to a publication about the fig orchards that were planted in Casa Grande, AZ back in the 1920's and 1930's with a special strain of Kadota known as the "Clarkadota".

W. Sam Clark sold farmers in Casa Grande his plants which were supposedly similar to the regular Kadota in most regards, but had a higher quality fruit.  The orchards didn't last for too long because Clark's Kadotas did not hold up well to the climate extremes of Arizona, along with other reasons outlined in the text.

Not sure if the improved Kadota that you've come across is the same one that Clark was selling back in the day or if it's something else.

I did some checking on this.     In Condit's "Fig Varieties: A Monograph" he mentions Clarkadota on page 377.   He said that compared side by side with Kadota, they are identical.    I searched for "improved Kadota", "Dottato", etc., through over 1000 electronic files and there is not a match.     I was thinking that an improved Kadota might insinuate the Excel variety but based on your description, this may be something unique that has been forgotten.    Mentioning in the specific description "fruit breeder" and "seedling of kadota"might indicate this.

Thanks for your for your help with the research. It's gonna be interesting to see the fruit on this variety. I will share with you photos and description once I get it and it bears.
