In response to WillsC “Going to be a busy winter......”

I looked at your box of cuttings and thought it looked exactly like a recently returned package marked undelivered. I made a deal for 71 cuttings with someone from Qatar nice girl. Her husband flies for Qatar Airways. The package was scheduled to meet him in Chicago but arrived 1 day late, he was off to Thailand.

I shipped it on Monday 8:30 am. I sent it USPS GUARANTEED Overnight Express Mail + $12.50 for holiday delivery on Veterans Day + $5 for delivery by 10:30 am = $59 and change. USPS refunded the postage. I fired off a blistering letter to the Postmaster General.

I call Chicago Marriott O'Hare to arrange return. I tell the Hotel to ship it USPS 2-Priority about $15.  Hotel ships it UPS 2 day air about $45. Hotel informs me the pilot received many packages only 2 didn’t make it in time.

When I open my package I find a bulging legal sized envelope stuffed in the top. It was the other package that arrived late. Different names different states.

The other packaged was also sent USPS GUARANTEED Overnight Express Mail. Chicago, we have a problem.

Congrats on your busy winter WillsC

KK, when I first read your post I thought you were saying that you sent some cuttings to someone in Qatar but then somehow that person turned around and send them to Wills!  Anyway re-reading it it sounds like the cuttings that Wills received have nothing to do with the ones that you tried to send to the pilot from Qatar, it's just that it also was a package of a large number of cuttings, correct?  Anyway, sorry to hear of your bad luck with the postal system.

I was thinking the same thing!

I'm still wondering if that was the case??? You end it with "we have a problem".

The way I read your post is 2 packages were sent to this pilot in chicago but both didn't make it there in time. And they returned the wrong one to you?

no guys, this is about KK's substantial loss. Nothing to do with Will's cuttings.
I was puzzled by it too but he clarified it.

KK,

Sorry to hear about the USPS screw up, geez.  In my case the package came from MA mailed on Thursday and arrived here in Florida on Saturday........can't complain about that.

The only thing in common, they were both just a big pile of cuttings. He couldn’t wait to see his, I couldn’t stand to look at mine

They returned BOTH packages to me. The Hotel opened my original box, removed the bubble wrap and squeezed the other package into my original box. I got them both

All is not lost, I just received an email from Qatar. In 2 weeks they will be back in a different US city. I’m shipping them with a couple days to spare.

I can't believe they stuffed that other package into your retrun package. What a bunch of dipsh*ts!

I have to add,  every single time I have sent something next day or 2nd day, I have gotten screwed over and it gets there later than if I would have just sent it Priority Mail.

There are no guarantees when shipping USPS. For Priority Mail, they are just "estimates" or service goals. Even for "guaranteed delivery" items it is a crap-shoot. Always has been, always will be.

I've been suprised most packages I've sent/received so far this year (1st class on the East Coast) have taken 2 days. Some 3.

That's a shame about your package, KK.

Hi Ampersand,
Now is a good time to send packages.
Try again in 2 weeks ... and it will be a drama ...
With Christmas, there are so many packages traveling around, that well, probabilities are higher that some get lost on their way, and lots will be late because Santa Claus has too many gifts and needs more than
one travel to take them all. Poor reindeer :)
Good luck sending and receiving your Christmas gifts. And if you didn't realize it : Christmas is in one month .

I sell to this nice lady but i make sure i get it there two days everly Marriott dont mind if they are early. This lady buys lots of figs all the time.
