In Trading Heaven

I am loving the forum and all the generous members.  Since I am trading figs and other plants, I need some mailing advise.  To keep from having to go to the post office, is it better/cheaper to buy a digital scale and print out postage at home?  I have been mailing boxes and bubble envelopes.  If a digital scale is the way to go....can someone recommend one?  Thank you in advance.

I have a digital scale, and I only use it now and then.  My best advise is buy some cheap bubble wrap envelopes, or some manilla envelopes, and put the cuttings in bubble wrap with something damp to keep them happy, and send as few cuttings as you can.  Heavy costs a lot!  The 99 Cent Only stores and the Dollar Tree Stores have these things in their mailing center.

So, how do you know how much postage stamps to put on each envelope?

Ps if you dont want to go to PO then you need a scale ill see if i can find the ebay listing for mine and post it here

Due to a vast lack of (gov) usps info; try this to open an account (enroll/register):

They do offer a digital scale at ~$40.

Most important, you will be able to print shipping 'labels' from home,
and one may even have them ready 'boxes' picked up...

Good luck.

I didnt pay as much as this one thats listed here on ebay http://www.ebay.com/itm/66-LB-DIGITAL-POSTAL-SHIPPING-SCALE-by-SAGA-X-0-1-OZ-WEIGHT-POSTAGE-W-AC-USB-M-S-/140876746813?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item20cce8903d

Mine is the exact same but its the 55lb version the scale works flawless its always exact I weigh it home then bring it there and its always right im sure theres other saga models that will work just as good...PS just put SAGA digital postal scale into ebay search

I use my digital scale everytime I get a ripe fig and everytime I ship packages.  When you ship packages via the USPS, you can create your own label and pay for your own postage without having to stand in line.  Plus you save money when you ship yourself.  I got my scale from Tuesday Mornings for 10 bucks.  It support US and metric standards.  Harbor Frieght has them too for 5 bucks.

Thank you all....I didn't think you all would be driving to the post officer everytime you needed to mail some figs cuttings or plants.
