Are these figs late season?
Do they need the wasp?
Breba only or a two cropper?
I'm getting these from UCD but I ordered before I did research. I could swear that i read someplace that Santa Cruz is a breba only and that Zidi is very late. Any truth to that?

Zidi needs the wasp, will rarely fruit without pollination. Santa Cruz dark I believe is a San Pedro type that needs pollination for main crop. Zidi is a naturally large tree, and I have every sense that it's probably not especially hardy to where you are. It does have large, ornamental leaves.

Francisco and others know how to do the wasp job! Perhaps some info needs to be down here for us. I like Zidi name.

In my honest opinion, Zidi is one of the best tasting black figs. Bold, rich, sweet tangy flavor with a semi leathery skin. A must have for fig growers in Callie.

UcDavis Santa Cruz Dark needs no wasp for main crop its not a san pedro type fig i propagated and grew 2 of them . They ripen main crop but i discarded as taste on my "personal" palate was average.

What it boils down to is ....... Zidi is good tasting fig but won't produce for me. Bummer :(
Santa Cruz will produce but I need to see if I like it. I'll have to wait this one out and see.
Martin, did you keep the Santa Cruz for a few years before you decided?
