I have a hardy chicago fig in the ground and I want to try some other varieties in the ground as well, without protection. I am in zone 7a Eastern Oregon. In my location I can plant the figs up against a building or I can shelter them from the prevailing winds in the winter, but I can't do both. Which one of these is more important in getting figs through a cold winter? This forum has been great to read, thanks in advance for sharing your experience.
