Still looks pretty good,It's getting some rust but all in all it's in good shape. This one started with the breba around 3rd week in May and started main 1st week of July.I consider it an early/mid variety.
It sets in flushes and it's trying to put on a 3rd now.

Very productive and dwarfing, supposed to have been DNA'd as VdB but I don't have VdB to compare it to.Fruit is very good quality, thin skinned and will not hold on the tree.Tends to sour if left hanging too long.Probably the best looking of what I have and could serve as a landscape tree.Photo's from earlier this year.

Marsilles Black VS,aka MBVS

This one drives me nuts.It is always the last to leaf out and I'm usually walking by it in late May wondering how you guys back east bring this in.It acts like some of my stone fruit does when they don't get sufficient chill, sparse leafing until mid June.Very good flavor,I consider it a late fig.Last year it started ripe figs in early Aug.,this year it started July 28.Having said that I've also picked good fruit from it in early Dec when everything else is long gone.

To be continued...

Very nice looking trees/fruit.  I hope I can get some of my trees to look that good next year.   Mine are all starting to go dormant and some have gone dormant already here.

vista is a beautiful tree. how old is the tree?

Can you send me a box of figs so I can test their quality. :)

Hi Sid,

Yes,I saw your post.It seems these have different personalities in different climates.
I haven't any that you mentioned so haven't a clue.

Cheers,

Paul

Nick,

The tree was sourced from Jon as a rooted whip in 2011.

Justin,

I doubt I'll pull many more from that tree this year. The pickings are getting thin out there
and I don't think the raccoon's are in sharing mode.<G>

Well it was worth a try. :(

Looks good

paul. i guess i haven't learned anything yet on this forum. what is a whip? the tree looks 10 to 15 years old, or more, from my amateur perspective. It was planted in 2011?

Hi Nick,

<What is a whip?>

Well, think of it as a switch with roots. You know, like the one your mother used to chase you around with.
Probably dating myself.<G>

Yes,it was planted in 2011,these things are weeds out here Nick, can't kill them once grounded and established.OK,true, you do have to water them 3 times a year.

beautiful trees and the fruits ... mouth watering

Nice orchard. You should be proud.

The air layer you sent me only put out 36 figs which may or may not ripen. Some are pretty big now but it's get cool fast.

I was expecting a 100 or so by now. Would you send me a replacement? :) LOL

This tree is so healthy. I am so looking foward to next year.

I guess I shouldn't have pulled off the ones that were hanging. You'd have
had your first months ago.Live and learn.
