Introducing...Sbayi!

Good day, friends! Just wanted to post pics of my very young Sbayi tree. Got two cuttings from one of our members after he made a trip to Israel last Fall (thanks again!). It appears to have a mild case of FMV but the new leaves are not showing it any longer. Grew slowly until June and has just exploded with new growth since then. I am allowing it to develop a small main crop this season so stay tuned for more updates.

Nice pics. I like the leaves also. I got cuttings of an unknown Israeli fig from a member of this forum, but it only has a couple small leaves on it. Good luck

Thanks, guys. I think I got some of those too, Barry. He said they were an unknown Israeli purple fig so that is what I am calling it for now. I was about to start a thread just for it.

hey Ruben,
good work on getting that cutting to grow.
I had 3 from same member, only one survived.
It has some  fmv, but like yours seems to have started growing more since about mid june

Thanks! Feel free to post updates on your tree here so we can have a one-stop thread on this cultivar.

I am looking for Sbayi so if you have to trade, let me know.

Two weeks later...

@Fignatic- I will post here when cuttings become available. Thanks!

that's a beauty :)

Thanks, guys!

Eden,

Have you seen this post from member Kassoum? I think it's the only picture of a Sbayi fig out there. http://figs4funforum.websitetoolbox.com/post/show_single_post?pid=1271872781&postcount=114

Wow nice looking fig. Looking forward for this one i will put it on my wish list LoL. I have a lot of wishes when it comes to fig my only problem is space, my wife will kill me one days. I occupied three side of my house with figs now the time has come for the front side, but my wife is not happy with that but I hope when she have opportunity to try all varieties of figs that i have  that will change her mind. Wish me lack.

Hi Ruben
Nice looking tree,I had some of the same cuttings and the unknown,
The sbayi didn't root but the unknown did root.
Good luck with yours.

Good job Ruben! That little fellow has really grown this last month. I'll leave my Felcos and plastic bags in the truck I promise...

Hows the Sbayil? Been a year since we last heard about this tree.

I like the leaves also. I'm gonna have to add it to my list.

I love the toilet seat vent on the chicken house. Now that's creative! Is that yours, Ruben, or the neighbor's?

Any update on Sbayi? I am growing Sbayi and too excited waiting for the fruit.
