Introduction

Hi -

New to the forum. I live in zone 6a, in New York. Started growing figs three years ago. I have seven varieties ...all in pots. I have a Celeste, violet db, green ischia and four unknowns. Three of the unknowns were purchased at bills in Nj from cuttings he got from other figgies. I found the forum very helpful..especially tips from others in the NE. Look forward to chatting soon.

Ps - bill highly suggests getting a black spanish. Anyone having exp. growing that in the NE? Thanks for your feedback. Cant find Much info on that.

Hi and welcome :)

Welcome. I didn't care for black Spanish ( similar or same as black jack). I think a must have for us zone 6 ers would be Lyndhurst white, and for dark, MBVS. Also, if you can find it, Sodus Sicilian ( grows in ground near Rochester.

Welcome to the forum! I too am a client of Bill, have been down there 3 times and I use his sips.

Seriously in ground near Rochester, NY?  Doesn't Rochester expect lows in -10 to -20 F range (or colder) normally?

If there's a fig can survive up there, and it tastes good, I want it!

Welcome to the fig house!

Welcome!

Welcome! Sorry no experience with Black Spanish either.

But there are plenty of other good figs to find and grow

Welcome to F4F!!

Seven? Z'at all? You need to catch up. My Spanish Black froze out over the winter. I still have it in a gallon pot, but I think it's ready for Last Rites.

Welcome to the forum.
I just got Black Spanish this Winter. I intend to test it for myself in 6B, but it'll be a while before I know.
