My name is Mario Di Natale, from Wallingford Ct
Born in the mountains of Abbruzzo Italy 1944 ,came to the states when I was 14
I'm 70 years old I have been a builder developer all my life, semi retired about 5 years I started a new hobby WINES from Italy ( only good ones). I had 1 or 2 fig trees most of my life. Three years ago I bough a new fig tree in Oregon and borrowed 3 different suckers from trees at the hotel I was at . About a year ago someone told me about Figs 4Fun and now I have a second hobby. I guess it was my destiny my mountain in Abbruzzo is full of figs . Growing up fig fights was our favorite pass-time, there were figs every where! They would fall to the ground for our sheep to eat.
I enjoyed reading the Forum and learned more in the past year then I ever knew all my life about figs.
Some members were very generous and offered cutting and when they found out I was a new member they also send some young trees, no charge . Graza, Brent Morgan, and Gary ( Figgary) thanks for you generosity. By the way all cuttings and plants doing great , one of these days I will learn how to post pictures.
I bought some from Richter and Wellspring. I also got many UKN from the Italian and Portuguese communities around my area. But must of my cutting I got from Charles Vossberg from Hamden Ct.
I will be keeping most of my plants in 7 gallon pots (easy to move ) but I have some planted against brick walls facing south at my house, office and wine store those I built a insulated lean-to every year. They love the warm bricks. The plant I purchased in Oregon is against my garage wall, the first year it had 4 leaves and 3 figs ,this year (3rd) I had a list of 25 figs, all over 100 grams . I lost tag not thinking it was important , but it should be a Stella. You will not be hearing from me to much but I will be reading your posts, I have a lot to learn !!!
Thank you for the information I learned from you all
