introduction of myself

Hi to everyone here at figs 4 fun.........

I would like to share todays experience.
First let me say that in the world of figs Im a newbie.

Well I bought some cuts from a ebay seller and since he was near by could I pick them up in which he agreed.
Upon my arrival we exchanged introductions and he kindly walked me through his fig collection. Taking his time giving me names and other details  of each one.
Where there were figs he would search for a ripe fig saying I wish you could taste these and along the we I got to taste a few. Even if they were not ripened to perfection.

After a while he was speaking to me as we had been friends for some time. Then the man shared a fig off a beautiful tree called Ischia Black fig.  It was well rich and made my mouth water after eating it. I cant imagine what it would taste like if were truly ripe.

Along with the cuttings that purchased from him he gifted me 4 potted fig plants to start my fig collection.

A tip he shared with me was to share with the good people here and they will share with you.

This mans name.....    Rafed

Rafed I hope to call you friend and extend the kindness you have extended to me. Never speaking down to me for a lack of knowledge of figs and so much more.

Thank you Rafed     Be well my friend.

Awwww! You are a lucky so-an-so! Welcome to the forum and just think about the ones you tasted that weren't so ripe! Happy figgy-dreams. :)

Welcome Wanafig . Lucky indeed meeting up with Rafed ! Happy figging....

Howdy and welcome Wanafig.  Rafed is indeed a great person and you are so lucky to have had the chance to meet him (and his fig tree's) in person.

Welcome Wannafig, do you have a real name too? You are extremely lucky to meet up with Rafed of all people. You got to see more kinds of great figs than most of us will be able to collect.
I don't think you have any mediocre ones do you Rafed?

Welcome Wannafig.  You must have guessed by now that you were lucky indeed to have had the opportunity to meet one of the nicest and most knowledgeable people here on the forum.  Everyone should be so lucky to start their figging endeavors with a tour and tasting by Rafed.  =)

Okay this has been plaguing my mind since I posted. Rafed you know I adore you but given the chance I need 20 minutes in Martin's yard. MWAAAHAHA No chance of light fig scion getting into my pocket.

Welcome!!

Welcome and congratulations for your gifted trees. Rafed has helped many growers to expand their collections, you are very fortunate indeed to be so close to him.

Welcome to the forum. Rafed is indeed a good guy and I enjoy his pics very much. Envy setting in. ;-) he has a great colection that I would love to see in person.

Lucky you to meet a good guy at first. There are lots of 'fakes' out, meaning fake trees with different names, etc.  Welcome to the forum and hope you enjoy learning as we all do.  rooting small cuttings can be challenging, but also rewarding. Best luck to you.

Thanks everyone for the kind words.

Nick,
I enjoyed your visit and glad I was able to help. You are welcome anytime.

Thank you all for the warm welcome.

As far as Rafed's fig collection goes, my head was a spin with the number and types.
I know that does not answer the question asked but what do you want from a newbie. LOL

Let me say once again that I utterly enjoy the generosity witnessed on this forum. Thank you all.
