Iranian Shirazi Fig Species?

I know this subject has been touched on before but im looking for a conclusive answer or more information on what species these dried Shirazi figs from Iran are.
Ficus Afghanistanica or Ficus Carica???...or a possible cross between the two or even possibly an intergrade between two subspecies.

Did you check the website listed on the package?  Other than starting there, I wouldn't have a clue.  Good luck.

The consensus seems to be that they are carica, though some batches of seeds I've grown from these have leaves that are similar to afghanistanica.  This may not mean much, but I wonder if they might be hybrids from the wild?

From my research a few years back, it is most likely that these are ficus carica, a Smyrna type.  The leaves do have a certain look for sure but appear to have a characteristic look that is similar to some caprifigs and seedlings of Sari Lop (that I have grown), the great Turkish fig variety used in dried fig production.  Sari Lop, aka Calmyrna (over here in the States), is a Smyrna type fig.

This is most likely the Sabz variety that is grown in Estahbanat region. It does have very unique leaf shape, somewhat like a cross between Afghanistanica and Carica.
Yes it does require pollination.
