Is anyone growing Old Brooklyn Italian?

What can you tell me about any special/different features? What is your appraisal of its flavor?

Is that the same as Brooklyn dark or white?

Mario,

I can't tell you. It's listed on Jon's varietal page without any synonyms.

Thanks.  That helps a bit, but there's a lot of drama in that thread.

I think the fig seems to be a fine fig, it's just that since the seller apparently doesn't have a big presence here it is maybe suspect. If it's a good fig and a reasonable price, what's the harm? I bought a dozen to practice on and got 11 rooted my first try. He named it after where the original tree was found, just like most other fig-tree-finders do. I hope to be able to try one this year.

The OBI in Jon's database says they turn to a "dark purple" when ripe. Sounds like the above thread hinted at it being a white type ???  The productivity quoted in the Database is certainly impressive (>1000 figs? Yikes!)
