--- Is Brown Turkey and Double Header the same fig?

Just a question like in the subject. Pictures posted by Jon are rather similar.
Anyone is growing both to confirm or deny this?

Thanks!

Bump for the morning folks

Hmm.. so the DH is not a popular fig I guess

figs are starting to sound like Heavy machinery :)

According to genetic testing they are not.

Hi Greenfig,
What is a double header ?
Where did you hear from ?
Probably a miss-named or renamed cultivar. Here, that name does not exist .

Double Header

it seems the source is USDA/UCD..

Jdsfrance,
It is possible that it is known under a different name too but as Pete mentioned, the DH is available from UCD as well as from Jon.
I acquired a few cuttings and wanted more information. From the Jon's photos, it looks like a Brown Turkey.
Although Brent says the genetics is different.

A little easy detective work, HERE, will show you that DH at USDA/UC Davis originated from me, not vice versa. This is a variety that originated at New Stone Age Farms in CA some years ago. Have no further info on it, other than the fellow who provided the cuttings died a few years ago.

Thanks, Jon, for a clarification. This does not answer my question though. Do you grow it? How does it look and taste compared to BT?

Well greenfig

A good one! But that is a recipe name that uses Black Mission figs, Double Header refers to double dashes !
