Is it Marseilles Black VS? Plus others.

Cut these off last night.  The fruit is blemished from FMV or some other virus, hence the patches.  The fruit is labelled in the larger sized pics.

Question:  All of my Marseilles Black VS look like the middle fig pictured here - skin is NOT black, not even really that dark.  I got the cuttings from someone I've never dealt with, but have no reason to question the shipment.

I'll post more MBVS fruit pics in a few minutes.

I gotta say, Owensboro (saxonfig's Unknown) is freaking awesome, whatever it is.  Outshined the other two, but all were good, I was lucky to get a taste, my daughter scarfed these down.

Here are two more fruits pictures from my supposed "Marseilles Black VS" tree.

I would expect a dark purple color on the skin.

Nice photos. I am very impressed by the quality of your pics Jason.
Do you mind if I ask what camera you use?

I agree with Jon about Marseilles Black VS darker colour but ripening in cold weather makes light colours.

It makes sense.

All fruit is covered by leaves also. Not sure it matters. It is also heavily infected by something. Clearly, not even my Gino's Black is very black...

@Leon, I shoot all of my pictures with my iPhone. If you have good lighting and a steady hand, the pictures can turn out great.

I had about 3 Hardy Chicago figs that were green and light tan when they were ripe. They didn't look good but weren't rotten either, just discolored and they tasted good. If I remember right it was on the cool side too, so maybe the cold sometimes does affect the color.

@Viv, this is the first time my tree has produced any significan quantity since starting it. I sent two brothers of this tree out to forum members, so I'm a little concerned that I may need to tell them about my experience ad check in on theirs. This tree had two or three fruits last year, but I only saw one ripen, and it was light colored also. 100% positive I didn't mislabel this one, either. It tasted good.

I've noticed all of my figs seem to be lighter, Gino's Black was, you can see above that Bethlehem Black was... It could be something about my growing environment, really. I just dunno what.

Jason:Your cultivars are true to name ,but climate this year and last, was
unsuitable for ripening fig trees corrector,so the first thing one can notice,is ,the fruits do not develop the normal dark color but remain off color, like earthy green instead of purple blue.
They can be good tasting inside but ,one notch less than when they ripe in ideal conditions, and become the color they suppose to have in the Mediterranean climate.

Jason, this was a weird year for a few of my figs as well. Your figs look amazing! But, the exterior color is "jacked up". I can relate. My Gino Black were black but not as prolific as seasons past. My Smith only put out a hand full of figs. My Strawberry exploded with gobs of figs where as last year I got none! Improved Celeste also exploded with figs but only a few last year. It was just a weird year this year and I'm glad to see it comimg to a close. Thinking positive about next year.

It looks a lot like mine, Jason, so I wouldn't sweat it. I have a small tree from vickitucson, which she told me originally came from Encanto. I didn't take a shot of the insides, but it looked like yours as well. The thing that continually impresses me about figs is how variable they are.

It used to be that many "unknowns" turned out to be Celeste. Now I am seeing many more that are in the "Hardy Chicago" group, along with Dark Portuguese, Sal's, etc. Not necessarily all identical, but clearly similar and or related, if not the same.
