Is it or isn't it Desert King?

Email conversation between Florida Hill Nursery and myself...

Me: The "Desert King" you sent me is not a Desert King.  I think it is a VdB.

Them:
Hello, What makes you think that. Please send a picture.

Me:
I posted pics of all my fig trees on the figs4fun forum and members there said it wasn't a Desert King but looked like VdB.  I already have a VdB from elsewhere and the leaves look the same.  I'm new to figs so I don't know much.

Hello, Violet de Borduex is a dwarf var. The picture is of a Desert King. You have the correct plant.

Edit to add... I received a "Desert King" from Hirt's plants in Ohio today.  It is very small but the leaves look nothing like this one, even when it was very small.

Charlie,
It Looks like a VDB...

Here's a Tissue Cultured VDB from Wellsprings... now 2 main stems and one is over 4' tall. Good Luck.

Not Desert King.

If it turns out to be VdB, that is not a bad thing.

Definitely not a desert king.

Pino's recent post, http://figs4funforum.websitetoolbox.com/post/desert-king-7031475?pid=1283891096#post1283891096, has a picture of the typical leaf pattern of desert king.

That's the same leaf pattern as the Desert King from Hirt's.  I'm going to send that pic to them.

Hirt's does not care about anything but the next sale. Good luck, but even that will not help.

Received my Desert King a couple of weeks ago, which I've also purchased from Hirt's Gardens. Here are a couple of pics:
