Is Kathleen's Black worth keeping?

Hello everyone! I have limited backyard space and would like only the excellent ones to go in the ground and have been contemplating whether I should keep my KB that's already in the ground or if I should use that space for something better. It is such a vigorous grower though that I'm kind staying hopeful that it translates into fruit production. I've read numerous times that KB can take years before producing any fruit. I appreciate your feedback!

Mike,

It was that list that made me want Zingerella:)    Thanks to a kind board member It rooted, grew and is now in ground.

Willis, if Zingarella is as good for you as it was for me you will love it. It is in my top three.

So which ones are going in the ground for sure? I have the three Col  De Dame and a Black Madeira in the ground so far.

I replaced the Violette de Bordeaux which was in the ground last summer with a Black Co de Dame and now my Violette is back in the planter. You could always switch as long as they are very young.

If I were doing pots and in-ground, productivity probably would be equal or higher priority than flavor as far as putting things in.  In pots you can control the flavor more.

KB is not easy. it takes time for some. but per gene horsey, it's the best black fig. and he had good number of premium figs. you'll have to find out for yourself.

Great advice, Martin.

Sas, the 3 CdD, Black Madeira, Nero 600m, Genovese Nero and some others.

shah8, I did not know that about pot culture. Thanks!

Hey Mike, can you tell me about Kesariani? Never heard of it, and you rate it highly. Thanks; Gary

@Gary, what I posted and this from Marius is all I know about it. Other than it was really good.

A"pretty big size,purple/black fig,red flesh,berry flavor"...from the city of KESARIANI,near ATHENS,GREECE.It is a no name fig,20+ years old,from somebody's uncle back yard.I do not have pictures with the fruit.

haven't tasted Kesariani yet. i even forgotten that was the name given. i think the pot is still marked Marius's Unk Greek Purple. will keep an eye on it this season.

Martin, I would be glad to share it with you all! Just need a few more months to let the trees put on more size.
