Is there any other fig as cold hardy as hardy chicago?

I am thinking maybe 5 to 7 foot spaceing the smaller of the 2 hedges will be all HC the larger will be a mix up of MvsB,RdB, and sal'g. my single florea cutting had sudden cutting death sydrom.

the other that will need some winter protection for at least a ffew years i will put ing the small orchard spot in the back.

the smaller of the 2 hedges rns north to south between to large pine trees and gets enough sun for the HC as i already have one planted there doing well. not sure if it will get enough sun for the others.

I don't think hardy Chicago is that hardy. Sals showed more cold hardiness as well as dark Portuguese, blue Celeste. There are many that con tolerate our winters but the problem is once in a few years we get a cold spell and they may die to the ground.

My Hardy Chicago has taken -4.  Soon I'll plant some of the others in ground as well.

Please let me know if anyone can find a fig that can stand -17F!
Now that will be an awesome fig tree! LOL

they clame nordland can. thats why im getting some

hey Dave care to comment on how your hedge did and what cultivators seem most cold hardy ?

anyone else chime in

I thing the hardest Fig in the world is Pauls Frostkönigin or Tadschikisch Wild Fig.
Pauls Frostkönigin is a Seedling what have live in a Winter with - 18 Grad, without Problems. She was in his first Winter 8 cm higth and 5 mm big.
Just she is 4 year old. All other 10000 Seedlings have not live in the next Spring.

Hi Paul,
Is that -18 Celsius or Fahrenheit?  Where did you get the seeds from?
Thank you.  Your Frost Queen sounds wonderful.

That was Seeds from South Italy. Just i make the same with Seeds from Kultur-Fig from Afghanistan. From Afghanistan the Seedlings very harder.
So i have very much Wild-Figs-Seedlings from Tadschikistan, Usbekistan and more and more Afghan Kultur-Figs.

I have also much winterhard young standart Varriety Fig plants. In the German-Facebook Fig Group many People have hard Fig Varriety.

I'm growing lots of seedlings from Usbekistan.  So far these young plants are all getting some level of damage to their new growth in my tough Maine winters (zone 5).  They have seen -17 degrees Fahrenheit the last two winters.  This winter should be much easier on them due to the El Nino.

I would love to find seeds from northern Afganistan, eastern Tajikistan and especially it's neighbor Kyrgyzstan.  Do you know of any sources I could try?

It is havy find this Seeds. Easy buy Seeds from Iran or maybe from Xinjiang with AliExpress.
I found the Afghan Wild dried Fig by Finefoods 3 times. But they have end. That was 1 times Johannis and 2 times Tajikistan Wild Fig(North Afghanistan). So i have more as 80 Tadschikisch Wild Fig.
Just i buy Kultur Fig from Afghanistan from Pamir Import/Export. But they sit in Hamburg/Germany.
