Is this Magnolia?

I bought a fig tree from Lowes which was labeled Green Ischia but as you can see in the photo, the reddish one on the left isn't very green. The fig on the right is Italian Honey and I'm using it as a reference. So, I've only seen Lowes carry 3 varieties (Black Mission, Magnolia, and Green Ischia) from this particular nursery. I'm guessing that I ended up with a Magnolia? Also, what is your experience with Magnolia? DSCF2927.JPG

This is the interior.

Hi Lamkriya,
IMO Not magnolia for me . This fig is too small and not enough elongated. But of course depending on the health of the tree ... Could be a tiny magnolia ...
A photo of the leaves could help .

Not Magnolia.
Nice looking fig!

Sorry for the delay...here are a few photos.

Shailesh, the figs are about 50% bigger than Ronde de Bordeaux.

And another one DSCF3081.JPG

Again, I've only seen this nursery offer 3 varieties at Lowes: black mission, green ischia, and Magnolia. That's not to say that they don't offer anything else. Thanks for your help!

Hi lamKriya,
This tree seems to be a keeper, but not magnolia and nothing I know as well.
The tree is healthy, yet the fruits are small for a magnolia .
So now, Lowes is selling at least 4 varieties .
If Lowes has higher demand on fig-trees ( or bad feedback ) , they may well have placed orders at new suppliers/nurseries, and you'll see them selling more strains - or at least more mislabeled trees :( .
Then, it is a matter of luck to buy a very interesting strain, even if mislabeled ... So going by the leave's shape if you want to choose new trees is recommended .

Here, out of the blue, a nursery placed an order to a nursery from southern France - the label was made by the "breeding" nursery and one could see the source of the tree.

At this point, the figs from this tree have been somewhat bland but I suppose I should give it a couple of years to improve.

Just judging from your pictures, it looks to me like the fig could have spent a few more days on the tree.  I wonder if that would improve the taste at all.  I have bought a few figs in the central FL region from Lowes (grown by Dewar Nursery) and it always seems to be a roll of the dice what you will actually end up with.  I don't think my Green Ischia from Lowes is really a Green Ischia.

You're right! It wasn't quite ready. I did try one this morning that was completely ready is it was pretty good. Just gotta figure out now what kind it is.

several recent threads on lowes "magnolia", it's not a classic magnolia/brunswick, but instead like the one you've shown.  Mine isn't so hot to eat.  Do a quick search for more info.
