Is this mold?

Had these cuttings in 5 gallon pots for about 8 weeks now. No issues. Left town for 5 days and came back to this. Pots are outside and the surface of the soil is dry. I've been watering about once a week. Watered right before I left.

This did happen to one of my 1 gallon pots a while back right after I watered in fertilizer. I think the mold is developing directly on the fertilizer that collected on the surface.

Should I scoop it off? Or just ignore it?

It's really hard to tell what that is.  Can't hurt to scrape it off but if it's mold it's probably living in the soil.  From what I see of the fig stem it doesn't look good at all.  If there are leaves growing then ignore me but if not it may be dead.

It's growing leaves vigorously. That one cuttings his looked like that since it was in a cup. Only on that one spot. I was worried it was a sign of rotting early on, but it is otherwise very healthy and doing well.

when mine grew this peach fussy, it was over for them.. gnats are devouring the mold and roots.  if you can scratch and let it dry out.

is it indoor or outdoor? i haven't seen mold on top of the soil like that on figs outdoor. but i have seen some of the cups with molds like that. i usually just scrap them off, water and leave it outdoor in fresh air and sun. usually they go away.

It is fungi eating the fertilizer, nothing to worry about.

They are outdoor. That's why I was so surprised to see it.

Hoosierbanana, you are definitely correct. I looked closer and the white mold is clearly growing on the bits of undisolved fertilizer that didn't fully dissolve when I watered in fertilizer a few weeks ago. So should I ignore and water over it? Or scrape it off.

Thanks guys!

chome360,
On occasion I get that growth on the surface when using Espoma (organic) fertilizers, its just the mycorrhizae growing and I've never had a problem with it. I usually just mix it into the top layer and water it in.

Good to know.  That's actually the exact fertilizer I used...Espoma Organic Plant Tone.  Thanks again.
