Is this ready to pick?

This picture was taken about 8 hours ago and the fig is a little more droopy now.  The fig was marketed as a "Celestial fig".  Should I pick it now or wait a day or 2?  Thanks.

It looks like it needs a little bit more time.  When it is ready, the stem will separate from the tree with just a slight pull.

Celestial has a darker color, golden brown to brown. That doesn't look like celestial. Anyhow I would wait a little longer if it is celestial.

From the pic it looks like it has a few more days to go. Not correct color for Celeste and the stem will bend toward the ground.

I was confused about the color too but if I squeeze the fig it gives a bit.  Will a fig change color in a day's time?  I ate another breba like this one and it tasted fine but maybe not as sweet as it could have been.

Maybe it's not really celestial.

Doubt it is Celeste. Probably needs 2-3-4 more days.

No 2 varieties are the same, so you have to experiment and get to know you particular variety and exactly how it behaves when it is ripe.

Yeah, it doesn't seem to be a Celeste.  Even the tag that came on the tree shows a tree with green figs.  It's labeled "Celestial Fig" from simpsonnurseries.com.  I'll give it a bit more time.

light fig... looks like that's going to be light yellow when ripen. i would give it few more days. depends on the fig, it might also crack along the skin. listen to daniel above. it will droop like it's hung on a noose.

Definitely not ready.  It looks like a dangerous variety, possibly poisonous.  Wait several days for it to ripen then send it to me for analysis.

bob, by the time it gets to you, it might be really unsuitable for eating... lol

This is the fig 24 hours later.  It's starting to turn brownish.  I definitely ate that other one way too early.  I ate it as soon as its flesh wasn't rock hard and it was still green/yellow like the first picture.  It was my first fig ever so I jumped the gun.

Still looks a bit too early.  As big as the fig is, the largest area should probably bump against the main stem when its neck is broken.  It is now close to a critical time, if it should rain, you would be better off picking it a little early than to leave in on through the rain, especially if it has a large eye.  Rainwater will run down the side of the fig to the eye and it will sour quickly if left on the tree.

48 hours after the first pic.  It's looking a lot better.  I think this one is a Brown Turkey actually.  I bought a Celeste and a Brown Turkey at the same time and got them mixed up.

You might want to cover it with a bag or newspaper so the birds don't get it.

I've got one of those wedding favor bags on it now.
