Is to early to get an ID--Photos

Hi guys,

Here is a fig I got from Switzerland. I call it Domenico Italian/Swiss Fig.

I just discovered that I had two plants of this variety that where started from cuttings. The other tree I have is larger but with no figs. I cut it back some to send out a few cuttings to guys in different areas to learn if they where successful and learn what type of fig this might be.

Just this morning I spotted this one fig at the top of my smaller trees. When I checked on the variety that I had I wrote on the bucket I learned that it is the same tree as the one I took the cuttings from last season. I had forgot that I had two of them.

Now to see a fig pleases me greatly especially after the hail storm they went through early spring. I hope this one stays on just to see it develop fully. This is the only fig on those two trees.

Is there anyone of you willing to go out on a limb with this early information and photos of a leaf on the tree sporting the fig and try to identify it if possible? It most likely is a first crop fig. By the way it is a dark fig.  Below are the photos.

Thanks

Lou

Hi Lou,

There is no way I could I.D. this fig at this stage. A have a few varities that have the same shape of leafs...

The fruit might provide some kind of clues when it matures. However, this is not a guarantee...

Thanks I did not think it could be identified at this early stage of the game but I just figured I give it a shot. The fig to me looks like it most likely not going to hang on until it's fully ripe and as I wrote it's the only fig on the two very young trees I have.

Looks like I am going to have to wait until another season unless the guys I sent cuttings to come through for me. I looked real hard and don't see any tiny figlets forming at this point in time.
Lou
