Ischia Black 2014

Ischia Black. Received one cutting from UC Davis in February 2011. This is the first fruit from the tree. Medium size and crunch. Unfortunately, picked too early. Why? Impending rain while on travel. No other commentary but happy that this variety ripened here in 8B. There is the hope/promise of a few more.

JD, I picked one this morning from same source and it looked just
like yours. Mine was not ripe enough to eat

Mike,
It took about seven days after swelling and coloring to get to this point.

I hope you both get more figs from this that ripen fully.

Oh WOW, looks just like my Ischia Blue!!   Don't I wish!!! Keep picking until you get a ripe one and let us know.

There was a request to see the leaves posted in another thread. For recording keeping purposes, I am posting them here and then linking from there to here. Yeah, the rust has started and the rain has never stopped.

JD, the rust is not as bad as it is down here, yours is mild. If anyone gets a real Black Ischia let me know, I am tired of not getting the real deal and I am sure if it came from UCD it is the real deal. Please let us know if you taste a completely ripe one. Thanks.

Looking good JD!
