Now that I have my first airlayer of Negronne EL under my belt, there's no stopping me now. I started some Ischia Black airlayers today and threw in another Negronne just for the fun of it.

You're in deep now. Gone over the edge. No hope for salvation. Enjoy!PS: nice job.
Please keep us posted on the Ischia Black airlayer. If IB is difficult to root from cuttings, perhaps an airlayer might also be difficult. I wanted eventually to try doing that with my IB too. Tmc, how old is your IB tree?
Depending on the progress, I might just leave them on until next spring.
I'm waiting to see a fig person show up on one of those shows on hoarding with fig trees all over the place.
I can truly tell by first picture thats not Jons nor R.Watts and no one except UcDavis cultivar . To me its a thing of beauty. Thanks for pictures.
This is the third year. I ordered the cuttings from UCD 8/09
You go!
Question on the Negronne EL. Does the EL stand for Edible Landscape? Thanks.
EL = Edible Landscaping.Gina - there is no such thing as difficult airlayering. Airlayering is a thousand times easier than starting cuttimgs with 100% success rate for me so far, whereas I'm lucky to have 50-60% success with cuttings
So TMC tree is from uc Davis three years old and quite tall. I thought from what I've read on this forum. These cuttings don't grow so well do to FMV. Maybe TMC has a secret.
Last year it grew quickly. This year it has very little new growth and the leaves are smaller. It does have more figs though.
Correct, EL is ediblelandscaping
I had one airlayer not take but that's because the ear wigs ate the roots on me.
Here are pics of the second tree. I'm trying to ID source. I thought I had a cutting survive from Encanto Farms order. This plant started off weaker of the two but the more I look at it this year the more it's looking better to me than the other one.
Tom that one looks more like Jons to me.
