Ischia Black tragedy

I could have prevented this.  I had a bag over it because the Baltimore Oriole already got one and then we had a lot of rain and before I thought about it I found this today.  It would have been a nice fig.  This is the UCD strain

Ugh. Pick it now before it sours, at least you will have a fig to eat even if not at it's fullest potential.

Sorry for your loss.  You are human.  These things happen!  Next year will be better!

I initially thought 'tragedy' was too strong a word..  It's only a fig...

Then I realized it's an Ischia Black, so yes, 'tragedy' is correct.

Sorry about your fig.

A fig is still a fig, though, and if you have one of the good ones, any of them can taste better than any other depending on the circumstances of time, place, etc...

Ischia Black, for example, simply doesn't sound worthwhile for me to acquire.  Any of the major Bordreauxs can have fruit as good.  Perhaps not consistently, but they'd be more excellent fruit, total, than Ischia Black.
