ISO Florea fig cutting

Can anyone direct me on how to obtain a cutting. Or direct me to a seller. I know late in the year, maybe next spring. I can pay postage. i just started growing figs, and I would like one that can survive outside. This one sounds best. I grow stones fruits and berries mostly. Any help appreciated.
I can trade raspberry suckers, or blackberry tip rooted plants, if I know in advance what to root. I have many cultivars of each. I also have ton's of tomato and pepper seed if that floats your boat. Some very unusual varieties too. PM for list, I need to send by email, as seed list is very long.
Sorry to beg, I searched for sellers, and man, nothing came up. Seems only collectors have these rare cultivars. I would be more than willing to purchase plant, if I could find a seller!
The figs I have now are young. I'm trying to root some, so I can't really offer any at this time.

This guy knows his brambles folks. Nice to see you on the site Drew! It looks like I might get a few wyeberries on that plant this year. All the yellows grew well too.

Tyler

Good to hear from you! Glad they took! I sent out quite a few plants last fall and many had bad luck with them. Glad to hear you did OK! With your yellow caps I didn't have the best of luck either. I think you sent 7 of them. Well only one made it, but it's growing, and all i need! Thanks!
My brambles did well this winter. I protected them well, and I'm going to have a bumper crop of blackberries. I added Marion Berry and Newberry this year. I'm most fascinated with Columbia Star. It has 40 cultivars in it's lineage, it is thornless from the Lincoln Logan thornless gene. First commercial plant to use this thornless gene. Three known thornless genes exist. Columbia Star has Marion and Logan in it's lineage so has the complex raspberry-blackberry hybrid taste. It is thornless, and trailing. Very flexible too. I have found sometimes moving trailing types the canes break. These do not, it is more productive than Black Diamond and Marion Berry, also more winter hardy. I should get my first taste of Columbia Star berries this year.

Another another subject i secured many rare tomato seeds from Russia. Slowly making their way into the country. I obtained seeds for peppers and tomatoes from gardeners in Croatia, and Hungary. Conditions are similar to mine, so hoping for some good well adapted peppers and tomatoes to the conditions in the Midwest.

One of the most exciting additions is "Nadia" A cherry-plum hybrid. It's 50% sweet cherry. A cultivar from Australia. I just got it in and it's starting to leaf out. The buzz on this is that it is an amazing tasting fruit!  It looks like a giant cherry!

Wow, very cool looking cherry plum Drew!  Looking forward to hearing more about it in the future.

If you don't already have a source, I'm more than happy to send you cuttings of Florea in the fall or I can try to do an air layer for you.

Greg,  yes cuttings in the fall would be awesome. I will PM you in late summer to remind you. Nadia BTW is not a GMO. Both plum and cherry are in the Prunus genus, and once in a while a cross takes! This is such a case. Black Amber is the plum parent. It is a Japanese plum developed in CA I think about 1981. Supreme Cherry is the sweet cherry parent. A cultivar from Australia.
I like to grow unusual fruits that are good! I'm always trying new fruits each year to see if I can find any keepers. Not always the case.
A few years ago I tried numerous pineberries. I found the "White D" variety to be the best. It's a keeper! Notice it has red seeds.
They have a pineapple like taste. Pictured is a ripe berry. They are yellowish white with a slight red tinge when ripe. Quite soft, so will never make it in the commercial market.

hoosierbanana, your PM's are blocked. I can't respond by PM. Contact me at calmwave at comcast.net for tomato list anyway.

Drew51- Oh wow, a cherry plum hybrid! Now that is cool. I didn't realize they would cross, although others in the prunus family do, so why not I guess!
How does it seem to handle pests/humidity/etc? (I'm in SC, so big factors here). I'd love to buy/trade for some scions come next spring.

Ok, my first post and it was not about figs! Oh no.
Back to figs... I'm looking for Florea also, and would trade/buy from the person that mentioned they have some if they are still willing in the fall. My figs are tiny but I have lots of "other stuff" to trade- gooseberries, persimmons and apple scions, etc...

Hey Kate,

The cultivar is so new little is known about it. A bunch of my friends picked up trees, so info will slowly trickle in about it. Other cherry hybrids are around, but none with 50% cherry. The Pluerry has some cherry in it, but is more like a plum. A 2nd pluerry was recently released. The south is tough on sweet cherries. If you can grow Japanese plums, you may be able to grow this.  My state is more about tart cherries. I have one from the Canadian Romance series Carmine Jewel, awesome tart cherry as are many in this series.

Floria is at the top of my wish list too. If you're making a list of people to take cuttings for please put me on it.

Thanks all I have cuttings coming soon. In the future I will offer cuttings too, I 'm new at this so need some time to grow out my plants. Also i will only have a few, but karma works that way. I'll pay you all back by offering mine down the road. Thanks all! Glad I found this site. Everybody here is awesome so far, I'll keep progress on Nadia posted here.  It was just put in 2 weeks ago. It is starting to leaf out. I have not decided on exact pruning yet. I may let it go a year before picking scaffolds. I will prune like a plum tree, it is on St Julian rootstock, which is a plum rootstock. So I will prune like a plum, open center vase shaped.

Yes, and anybody else seeking Florea feel free to post here.

I'm also looking for florea cuttings. If anyone has any now or this fall please let me know. Thanks

For all those looking, drop me a PM reminder in the fall if you're still in the hunt.
Cheers,
Greg
