Issue with Foodsaver/Storage of cuttings

So after checking my cuttings that I vacuum sealed in my Foodsaver I noticed that all the bags now had air in them after storing in the fridge. So I thought maybe it was a fluke.. Two weeks ago I resealed them and sure enough the bags have moisture and air in them..

Is anyone else having this issue?

Also I see most people wrap them in plastic wrap and then put them in a ziplock bag. My question is how come moisture does not form using that method?

Plants put off oxygen but i dont know

Yes. But some do and some don't. Wrap cuttings individually with plastic wrap first, then process and that won't happen.

Hmmm, so first cling wrap (or whatever) cuttings then vacume seal them will keep them fresher?! What about waxing each end then vacumne seal them...has anyone done that and if so, how does it work?

I can't help with the vac seal, but I've had great luck with cling wrap.  You MUST pull the wrap tightly so that it is on the brink of tearing while you wrap each individual cutting.  The tighter you wrap, the less chance of condensation.  Then, I place in a zip lock bag, removing as much air as possible.

I accepted the condensation and wrap in dry paper towel and then ziploc. For 3 month storage seems to be fine.

I know this isn't rocket science but how are you guys wrapping the multi-limb cuttings?

Sal....I used a Food Saver also and mine did the same as yours. I think the cling wrap is the way to go. On the multi branched one I just wrap like the rest. There will be some open space but, I don't think it will hurt anything...Hope this  helps.  : )

I had gotten a bunch of local unknown cuttings when a neighbor trimmed her tree and I tried storing them in vacuum storage bags from Harbor Freight.  They are working pretty well but I do find I have to occasionally break out the shop vac and suck them down again.  I thought it was poor seal quality on the bags but maybe it is the cuttings producing oxygen like others have pointed out.

Ok Guys thanks.. It doesn't make sense frank. I thought these were made to be a vacuum seal. Oh well I'll just use the plastic wrap like you guys suggest.

Bill I'll look into those bags to test out. Thanks
