it's not like i need one more fig tree. i know i don't have any rare figs, but i don't really have any more that i truly need. but there is always one more that i want. if it's not this, then another. it's really strange. never really wanted anything like i want this or that fig. first it was Black Madeira, that was easy. just had to wait for USDA/UCD to come through. then same with Black Ischa, and Barnissotte. i'm ever so grateful to USDA/UCD. then Persian White, Jason's Unk Ischia Black.. list goes on. Maltese Beauty was truly wonderful gift. it's growing like crazy. not to mention Niagara Black, White Greek and others. last time i wanted something like this was a set of bagpipes.. and i already have two sets.
I can relate with Lionel trains prewar and postwar "but" its been rekindled after selling many in past years to help with kids schooling. Many of those obtained again since they cannot be propagated !With figs it is different as i have been downsizing for various reasons.Your time may or may not come.
Pete, this forum feeds the competitive nature of members.. I think it's very natural to fall into the side effect. All these talks and bragging and sharing information and experiences with each other flavors the day.I'm very grateful being part of this community :)
Pete, if you don't get on top of this soon, you will end up with a huge collection, and then you will have to start a foundation, and ...
jon, i'm not even close to that point yet. but i did go around the chinese restaurants today looking for 5 gal buckets... lol
It is addicitive, I have far more than I have room for. Will select the ones that do well and I like and get rid of the others.Of course, i am always adding to ,,,,,,,
I've prepped 13 five-gallon SIP buckets so far. Finding buckets and pots is no problem...it's the winter storage.
Good sources for the used buckets - besides restaurants or plasterers?
i might have to get rid of my vespa. been saving it to restore when i hit a pay dirt. that would give room enough for five 10 gal.
Pete, "denial" is part of the problem that has to be overcome.
Jon, you gotta give Pete what he wants or we don't know what next is coming !
Hi Pete,Time for rehab :P .
ok, so i was looking at my south facing front yard, gently sloped toward the same direction, and planning to squeeze in 20 trees... then realized my wife hasn't agreed to it yet. something about covering up the house and the people in the neighborhood... i have to admit that i met more agreeable fig trees than people.
