It was fig sampling night again...

This time we sampled first figs of my second gifted Peter's Honey tree. It aborted several of the brebas, but gave me 5 of them. Not as big as the other tree fruit.  Taste was excellent, it reminded me of those jelly candies, a bit on the chewey side.

The Rattle Snake Island (RSI)was a UCDavis cutting last year. It held on to the one fig I let it grow. I had knocked many out, it stunted its growth, it was only 8 or 9 inches tall, when the fruit started ripening, it decided to put up a few more leaves, so it started growing. the flavor was very good and the texture was perfect for me.

Lastly another one of my Seatte Purple. Still my winner. I love these figs.
Enjoy.

Congratulations!  And they look very ripe  :)

Very nice! Congrats!
And my harvest is mostly over, I am jealous :(

They look amazing, Grasa!

Congrats Grasa , they look fantastic!

Nice Grasa!  I always thought Rattlesnake Island was an interesting name.  Thought about getting it because we do have rattlers here.  Glad you like it.  Your figs look great!

Good looking figs, Grasa. Your Seattle Purple sure is big. Happy you are so successful with them.

Nice comments, Gary, I cannot say I am sucessful with them, as I have failed many, many, many... I am struggling at the moment with two very nice long necks that I thought they were making it...I have no idea why I am no miserable at rooting them. I finally put what was left of the cuttings in the ground and covered them with clear plastic bottle making mini greenhouse.    I'd say I have 40% of all the cuttings I try rooting.. that is not good percentage, but from now, Yes, I am enjoying the sampling, with full understanding first year fruits are not as good.

I am hoping by next spring I can give them a permanent place in the ground where they can grow happy and produce lots and lots of fruit.
