I will pay shipping, US only. California residents bid at your own risk, you know how it goes. The plant is in great shape, a slow grower for some reason (maybe it just wants to be a bush) but no FMV symptoms at all and well rooted in a fabric container for a strong fibrous root system. Ships as soon as payment is made and weather conditions allow. I can also hold it till fall and bare-root it if that is what the winner prefers.

The winner pays their bid amount here  https://helphopelive.org/campaign/9430

The auction ends Monday the 15th at 10 PM ET. Happy bidding.

So, are you saying to make a donation for Brain Melton and the biggest donation gets the plant?

I am new to fig plants so I have no idea what one like this may go for... Can you give me an idea?

Thanks from Colorado

It is looking like a auction here might not be the best idea to help Brian.
Maybe I will sell mine on ebay and make the donation myself.
It is good of you to offer up your plant Brent, having the right intentions
is what matters. I wish you a great sale to help another person out.

Doug

Hi Smeeko, Brent is saying that the bidding happens here and then Monday night the bidder with the highest offer will pay directly to the charity.  The charity will send the winner an e-mail acknowledging their donation.  Then the winner sends a copy of that e-mail to Brent and he sends you this highly desirable fig.  I-258 has sold on eBay for as much as $1500 for a large plant, though eBay prices can be all over the place.

So if you want to bid then just follow my lead :)

I'll start it off with $25

Thank you for doing this Brent!

Thank you for explaining that Greg, and also for the bid!

I thought about eBay Doug, but was unsure about how to set that up. It is against their policy for someone to collect for a charity without their written permission from what I understand... And since the donation is not for the organization as a whole I just didn't know if it would be possible.

I almost bid $99 myself, since anything a hundred or over invokes the "spouse discussion" rule in our house. We'll I guess I can go talk to her..... It's a good cause.

She is a RN, so helping people is kind of her thing. But, yeah she's pretty great. I guess after 20 some-odd years I'll keep her.

But is she is starting to wonder about this "fig illness" I am developing. She has already talked to the family about an intervention about me planting more fruit trees.....

She's your's Cliff! Thank you for the generous bid, you can really be proud of this tree.

Thanks to everyone else who bid. This tree earned more for Brian here than it would have currently on eBay, not to mention eBay takes 10%. So I hope to see more sales and buyers helping Brian in the near future.

The tree arrived on Friday. It survived very well, and is a very healthy looking little tree. I will try to take very good care of it. Right now it is sitting the shade until it adjusts to Houston's temps and weather. The sun is just too hot for anything other than morning sun or partial shade for young trees this time of year.

Glad to hear it Cliff! It has just survived 2 heat waves here so I was sure it would make the trip OK.
