Thanks for the update, Vince. That's phenomenal growth in such a short time.

Vince, What did you use to seal the top of cuttings with?

Great update! Mine did similarly - as they should because I think we're using the same light system (T5's). Like you it's the next stage that got me ;)
Every week I pot more of them up.

How do the roots look?

Hi Guys...thanks to everyone for the feedback and the questions.

Henry C:  it's old fashioned asphalt tree sealer.

Nichole:   yes, T-5 grow light. (one bulb)

figfinatic:  roots are popping through on a few cubes...I figure 2 more weeks before the "riot" takes
               place.

noss:   yes, scoring + clonex gel on each cutting...did not have them in clear container beforehand,
they went right into the tray on day 1.

Note:   will do another brief video update in 2 or 3 weeks...Thank you.

Vince, thanks for the update!  Great job!  I am so happy to see folks here with great success with the Riot Rooters!  Usually, I start my cuttings in January but this year something told me to wait and I did.  It's a good thing I did because in my climate we've had 20 degree cooler temperatures versus last year.  All my garage trees have leafed out but my garage is insulated and stays around 60 to 50 degrees.  In my climate we usually have one more cold snap before Easter and that cold snap is now here.  So, this weekend I plan on starting my cuttings.

I do have one question for those who are using the cubes.  At what inside temperature do they work best in?  I am planning on keeping mine inside my office which is btw 68(night) and 73(day) degrees.  I may place a small space heater inside my office to keep the temps constant.

cheers,

My root riot cuttings have been at a fairly consistent 69-72 degrees and they've been quite happy.

Dennis...same as Nichole...68* to 70*...I also have my root riot trays set up in my office, and temp in there fluctuates up and down depending on outside temp(my office is actually one of the bays of my garage that I converted to office space about 20 yrs. ago, so it's not the same as house temp.)...but the root riot trays don't seem to be affected by that...It seems each tray has it's own
micro climate within the 7" humitity dome, and inside there it's "always" about 70* and 80% humidity.
It's a very stable environment.

Thanks Nicole and Vince! This makes me feel real good. My office is btw 68 and 72 but I have limited space. My basement furnace is repaired now so I could place them in my basement and set the thermostat at 70 and see what happens. Thanks again!!!

I put a tray full in the greenhouse last week.

Good luck with them Jon...I've heard so much about how well Root Riot works that I had to try it myself...it lives up to every good thing that I've ever heard about it...and beyond !!......I just started my third tray last night...I'm sold, this is the way to go for me from now on.   I think one of the best things about the system is that you can grow so many plants in such a small space...I just surrendered our dining room table back to my wife, so she is very pleased with root riot too.   :)   :)
