It's been mentioned several times...don't give up hope on a dead stick!

At the beginning of the season, this 4" Preto was transferred to a 5 gallon SWC.  I figured it would start growing immediately, just like my other trees but it just began turning black and dieing.  I put if off to the side of the deck, mostly being lazy and just letting it rot.  I would check every so often and look at the cutting under the soil for any new roots but it was stale.
So yesterday I decided to take a peak and miraculously, she came back to life!  Just amazing.

Good for you!  I have a few semi-dead sticks on my patio that I still haven't gotten myself to part with.  Maybe I'll get lucky some day to and one of them will push out leaves.

That is terrific!!!

I to almost tossed a dead/dyeing stick.  I picked up an Olympian from Wellspring Gardens, so not a cutting, a cultured pencil lead sized tree.  While I was at work, a giant hail storm came through and laid siege to all in its path.  The poor little Olympian what destroyed!!!  I put it into the nursery hoping for the best yet the little tree just kept dyeing back, a little more every day.  So I ordered another one...  That's what we do right!!!  With in a day of ordering the new one, I was stopped dead in my tracks on a glimpse of the imposable...  the little "dead" tree was starting to push a bud.  I thought to my self.... figures.  LOL.  I would have tossed is weeks prior if it not for all stories of trees returning from the dead on the forum, so thank you to all of you.  I then thought... what am I going to do with two Olympians which quickly turned into... Hay... I HAVE TWO Olympians!!!!!

So, Congrats on your Preto coming back!  it really if terrific!

Frank, that is great. Still waiting on a bunch to wake up here.

I just hope it becomes stable enough to make it through dormancy this winter.

You still have two months give or take.  Maybe over winter it in the garage, if you don't already.

Hi Frank, some thing happened to me. I thought some of my trees were dead, but they came back. Sometimes you just have to be patient and take a step back and let mother nature do its work. I'll have to post my pictures sometime.

Never give up and never say never....... Okay, I have tossed some away and 2 rooted.
