This is Izbat an Naj fig,from Egypt.It is a 2 years old,very good producer.Figs are small,about 1'' diam with a strong pineapple/banana flavor.What's strange about this varietie is this: all my other fig trees have dropped their leaves and figs and this one is still green and ripening figs ...in oct 25th,zone 6 !!Thanks for looking.   Marius

Hi Marius, Patty S. here.  Lovely fig!  I am always looking for good green or gold figs here.  The birds U squirrels tend to leave them alone.  I can have tons of figs on my Panache, and the handful I have on my VdB get eaten.  I was able to cage in my new RdB, so I actually got to eat the few I had on it this year.  Very pretty fig, and bet I'd have figs well into the fall out here in N. San Diego county.

Hi Marius.  What an interesting fig!  How long into the autumn did it continue to stay green?  (I'm guessing it can't still be going... November 30, zone 6... though looks like it was still just one month ago!).  Did you keep it indoors to keep it ripening so long?  (What sort of environmental conditions?)

Mike,no more leaves and figs on november,the 12th, after the first frost,22 degrees for 3 days.I have this fig inground,near a brick wall,and survive two winters with very light protection.This will be the first winter when i will not protect anymore any of my inground fig trees!Too much work and money spend...will see.

How old is it at this point? Can we assume that part of your decision not to protect your in-ground trees is that they have reached a certain maturity?

No, Dale.To be honest to you,it's about the "war" with my darling wife,about $30 protection for each tree(mulch,isolation,tarp...),and i have  60 trees inground around my house...every year,every fall....no more comment.That's the reason i have so big,so huge cuttings this year.

It really has a strawberry/pineapple flavor?  Have to love figs, so much diversity.  

Marius, is there a website or someone that sells this variant? My son loves bananas and I think this might be a variant he might like.
