Janice Kadota

Janice is a superb fig, ripe today. Texture is thick jelly, or creamy-like golden thick gel. Sweet but not a honey taste. Tried hard to think of a taste it could be compared to. A long time ago I had brandy ice cream. Maybe it has that brandy ice cream taste. Sun warmed today. Whereas Binello is fruit punchy fresh, Janice is rich brandy flavored gel. Thicker than jelly, smoother than jam, rich but light. All sweet.

Janice seems to me to be a big league fig. Exceptional this year and last year in pot. One of the few on hand that I have not tried in ground, yet.

Tony,

    Are those four inch bricks?

Nice looking fig!  Your description of the fig makes it sound delicious.
Is this fig seedless?

The exposed red of the bricks measures 3.5 inches in width.
The fruit seems seedless, as reputed.
The fruit seems very comparable in quality to the best of the dark figs I've tasted, while differing in taste, texture.
It sort of makes the dark/light fig distinction seem artificial.

Congratulations.

I love the color of the inside. Looks yummy.

Really nice looking figs congrats.

Looks and sounds like Excel.

Don't have Excel yet. The Janice shipped from Bay Flora: Janice Seedless Kadota.

Yea, this is a nice one. Saw one here at a local nursery and the fig was sweet like Kadota, but it was twice the size. I was thinking about getting it but I have 4 Kadotas (bought for grafting projects) and 1 in ground. Put this down on your wish list.
