Jeremiah's Braçajote Branco

Neighbor and friend Jeremiah, very thankful for the pack of  his 'miraculous' roots I recently brought him from the African bushes, suggested a visit to his 'Braçajote Branco' fig to fill the belly with its late season delicious figs.
The tree, believe it or not, is not even 12 years old... but it is big! Rich soils and a rather high water table are responsible for this impressive growth and its superb figs.
If weather helps he will be harvesting figs through Christmas.

Wow, what a remarkable tree for 12 years, and nice red juicy flesh.

Wow that's a beautiful tree, lovely figs too.

Thanks for posting Francisco

Those figs look luscious!

Monster tree....beautiful figs

I'm going to join the group with WOW.

Great Looking Figs, Thanks for sharing the photos. The tree looks a lot older.   Yea the soil is super rich in nutrients. Fill some bags of soil and take some home...LOL

Thank you all for commenting.
Will tell Jeremiah of your kind words and I am sure he will be very happy.

12 years, are you joking Francisco?!?

It looks like this tree is about 70 or 80 years old!

Please say hi to Jenemiah, he has got a unique fig.
What a lucky man he is... :-)

Wow what a beautiful tree and figs

Francisco,

Indeed is an amazing tree, Nice small Ostiole on fruit.
Is Variety playing a major role on vigorosity I wonder?
It sure looks Caprified as well, is it a Smyrnai type?

Thank you all for comments

Christian,

I believe him..if he says 12 years is 12 years.. he also says that this tree was planted sometime between birth date of his 2 grand-daughters now aged 10 and 15.

Aaron,

Braçajotes ( black, white and striped ) are always above average size trees  if left to grow freely as this one.
They are all Common figs and ready, when the time comes, to accept the favors of the little wasp which is all over these places

very nice, I like the way the figs are still very green. Does it help protect them from the birds?

What a beauty, I am mesmerized by it's majestic growth habit.
Thanks for sharing the pictures and info Francisco ;)

Thank you all.

Daniel,

This massive tree (for its age) takes water only from the underneath water table at approx 5 meter as much as it needs... the dense and symmetrical canopy shape,  the healthy dark green foliage and the ongoing abundance of fruit still clean and full of sugars are good indicators that the tree so far, found a close to perfect balance in its nutrition habits. It seems that everything it needs it's there on hand.

Braçajote white figs have that nice typical 'mantis' green skin even when well ripe but I believe that birds do not go for color but for the honey, then to peck the softest areas to open into the pulp.
Seen them sucking first the syrup flowing from the eye of Sof.Preto, Violeta, Pingo de Mel and other juicy figs before pecking through the skin.
