JH Adriatic is the best of the green-red-berry figs that I have growing. Why? For life in 8B, its tolerance to rain, heat, humidity and 30+ degree temperature swings is imperative but not unlike Battaglia Green. What separates it from Battaglia Green (thus far) is that it is flavorful before the 'dead ripe' stage when the pulp bleeds into the otherwise thick skin. This characteristic offers a longer period to be ripe. I like that and the texture and flavor from the seed crunch. You can see how good that crunch is; can't you?

To me, JH Adriatic is not jammy but more juicy. If by 'bite' you are referring to texture then yes, absolutely. The seeds add a layer of flavor and texture that I truly appreciate; and I call it 'crunch'. The size, shape, and presentation of JH Adriatic when cut might make it an ideal candidate for a dessert fig, if such a thing exists.

Thanks JD for the info and sharing; now I know what you mean by "crunch" in your fig descriptions. Next year is gonna be good for me if it happens to do well in northern GA.

Looks great! I have a small JH here in the Atlanta area with one, small fig on it. It is in a pot in the drive. I may bring it into the garage for a few days as we have had a lot of rain over several days, now.

Beautiful fig JD, nice work. I am growing this variety for the first time this year after hearing so many wonderful comments about it.
No ripe figs yet, but a very healthy growing tree.

I found that JH Adriatic is a variety that is easy to root, even green cuttings, at least for me. I received my cuttings from Tim and of coarse they were nice healthy cuttings which is a must.

Sounds like a winner, that's for the photos! It's on my list now.

I have an Adriatic JH that has not ripened a fig. It is three years old and grows figs but will not ripen.

It partially dies in winter but makes a good come back during summer. I do not think our temp. is cooler than it is in Austin, where the tree came from. Maybe next season it will produce for us.

You could try this:
Choose 2 figs per stem and remove all the other that are present or will appear .
You could even pinch each stem after 2 figs + 1 node .
Are you expecting brebas ? If not, and wish to put all chances on your side ... Just try !
