Got to taste the first breba of 2016 for here in NH from a greenhouse JH Adriatic.
Excellent flavor but still not as good as the wonderful main crop on this variety.
Came in at 65 grams.
Both the JH Adriatic and Maltese Beauty in the greenhouse were given serious root prunings this Winter and placed in home made SIPs and have responded with very nice fruit sets. A co worker who observed my root pruning was  
certain I had killed them both !                  

   
  
   

Nice looking tree!  I did some major root pruning this year too.  The trees loved it.  There are 2 that didn't respond well, but I believe it was due to me not taking enough wood from the top.  Did you prune a lot of the top growth to balance it out?

Looks very nice Kerry. Root pruning done at the right time does nothing but invigorate the plant. I haven't lost one yet, and I have root pruned many over the years.

I did some root pruning this year also on over twenty trees. I also top pruned them heavily.The difference is clear. These trees have already put on so much growth in two months equivalent to four years of growth.
I also noticed, that although some will have fruit for the first time this year, most have more leaves and new shrubby growth than fruit.
With such super fast growth in pots, I am tempted to root prune every year.

Its amazing how a fig tree with few roots can survive and do well. Happens to my trees every season.

I did top prune them as well , fairly hard , mostly to keep them between the hanging basket lines and above the benches.

Kerry, congrats for get such early brebas from your JH. They look great.
I severely root prune each fall when I dig up all my trees and cut the tops back so I can pot the trees for winter storage. I usually don't get many brebas because of my heavy pruning but the new growth is good.
