Joe Morle's Paradiso and Black Mission

hello all, I'm new here and have a question about my fig trees that were shipped to me a few weeks ago.

I'm getting slow growth on the Paradiso and curled up leaves with browning. Leaves are hard to the touch, but don't break if you bend them. It arrived this way July 8th. What does it look like to all of you?

Black Mission has same browning with only 1 little brown fig growing. It has increased in size however.

I spoke with Joe, but there was a little bit of a language barrier however I did my best with my broken Italian. He said that Paradiso leaves are ' più dura' which means are harder than the Mission and that it could be going dormant. It shipped to NJ in only 2 days. I have a Kadota that has soft almost 'plush' leaves. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance!

The plant is a little worse for having been shipped. But there is nothing to be concerned about. Feed it some fertilizer if you want more growth. Otherwise it can stay that way all summer and grow next yr.

Thanks Fignutty! I did give it some fertilizer. I appreciate your reply!

Hi Nickdef,
Welcome to the forum.
Your two trees are fine.
The first one looks like it lost its terminal bud at some point - nothing to worry about.
Take good care of them; don't forget to water them.
Fig trees grow by successive waves - they may well have done all for this year, or may start a new wave if they want and if well cared.
IMO, for now, they look to be in good health.
Are you planning to pot up ? to put in ground ?

I used to have Morle's Paradiso, it is a strong grower and prolific fruit producer. Be patient. It will recover and do great. Put it in partial shade at first. Maybe try a little super-thrive or vit. b-1.

Thanks all for the replies. I plan on potting up, but may out one in the ground at some point. I think the terminal bud is still there. If you zoom into the picture it's right behind the tiny baby fig. I think they're done growing for this season. I had it in partial shade for the past week but decided today after all of the comments to move it to full sun.
